Plan:
1/13/98
o Well well, the cat is finally out of the bag. I'm very excited to be
heading off to Dallas and skulk around the Ritual HQ. Almost a year ago,
I visited their house-converted-to-an-office and got to playtest Scourge
of Armagon... They were all incredibly nice and invited myself and my
fellow co-workers, Andrew "Wireless" Gibbons and Gabe "Caine" Osterlund
in to play despite not even really knowing us... Tom "Paradox" Mustaine
loaded up a few of his levels, and my jaw hit the floor. I think I got
stomped incredibly hard in that deathmatch simply because I was too busy
looking around at the architecture... Someone, maybe even Richard himself,
was kind enough to show me some of Levelord's levels and I was nearly
incoherent, I think. I was just completely amazed by what the
Ritual (then-Hipnotic) team had produced in a few short months.
Judging by the reviews and such, I guess everyone else felt basically the
same.
Needless to say, I was flattered and shocked when Ritual offered me a
position on their team. I'm still amazed, and so excited I can barely
concentrate on real life.
Thanks to everyone for the kind words and congratulations. I've received
quite a few kind emails and some wonderful mentions on various websites
("All Hail Don" on Ritualistic had me cracking up... :).
The biggest thanks, though, go to the people who helped get me here...
I've already gone through a big list of these before, so most of you know
who you are... but here's a brief rundown of the kinds of people I'm
grateful for.. Heroes of mine for years who I've finally met (John Romero,
John Carmack) and became friends with, people instrumental in my early
involvement in the scene (Joe Siegler, Barrett Alexander), new-found heroes
(John Cash, Jim Dose, Tom Mustaine, Brian Hook, Richard Gray, Steve
Tietze), and of course everyone at Ritual, especially Harry and Joe for
making sure everything is in place and good to go. There are a lot more
of you out there, but you know who you are. Thanks.
o Oh, and if you haven't already, head over to HardCorps's *AWESOME* Message
Board. Beau, Charlie, and myself have already been answering a lot of Sin
and Ritual questions, and traffic's going great. Where else can you ask
the folks working on the game exactly what's going on?

o Alright, I need some help here folks. My roommate, lamer that he is,
insists that single-play toilet paper is OK, and that dual (or more!) ply
toilet paper is a waste and useless. I had placed a "Softly Ultra" roll
in our downstairs bathroom, assuming that it would be replaced with another
good roll when finished. Imagine my dismay when some of my female friends
and guests began complaining about the terrible quality of our toilet
paper.
I immediatly ran into our bathroom, tore off a sheet, and held it up. I
COULD SEE THROUGH THE TOILET PAPER. Yes, he bought a huge case of
Cost-Co Single Ply Bargain paper and was subjecting our guests to it's
evil ways.
Needless to say, Andrew "Wireless" Gibbons, evil man that he is, refused
to admit that there is any real reason for dual-ply toilet paper over
single-ply. (I guess he *loves* it when it rips in mid-wipe... go figure)
Personally, the softer and thicker it is, the happier I am.
Jack "morbid" Mathews went and publicly voiced his outrage and request for
pro-TwoPlyers to email their concern to the heathen we have living with us.
I'd like to urge you fence-sitters, here and now, to make a difference!
Email your concerns to the place it'll do the most good.. the source..
Andrew himself!
News sites, I urge you to also offer your readerships the ability to voice
their opinion on this crisis. Thank you for your support.

o The job position I mentioned previously is no longer available. Thank you
for all the emails, I'm amazed at how much talent is out there. (But a
hint to, oh, about 150 of you... reading Blues news every day and owning
a card doesn't mean you'd make a great webmaster... Just cuz it works
for me doesn't mean it works for everyone )
o Oh, btw, if you find my .plan boring, Lone^Wolf has revived his plan with
some wonderfully humorous commentary, including a "Where in the World is
John C" contest (or something similar, I'm too lazy to check). Who knows?
Maybe he's a closet Two-Ply Man himself and will jump into my campaign. I
can't think he's an evil One-Ply Demon.

Lone^Wolf's .plan
Things I can't wait to do in Dallas:
10. Miss the California weather
9. Fill the requests I'm already getting for interviews
8. Beat down everyone at Ritual in Sin, even though I've never played it
7. Make sure Ritual's server doesn't have any more problems
6. See what cool stuff UberEngine has
5. Piss everyone off by dumping a list of things I'd love to see in Sin,
weeks before it ships.
4. Taking Brian Hook out to Olive Garden
3. Seeing what the elusive J.C. looks like
2. Not have to drive a U-Haul around anymore
...and...
1. SMASH ROMERO DOWN IN DOOM 2!!
Things I HATE:
o Having hard time finding new roommates. Sucks.
o FOV lamers who use dynamic FOV to "zoom" in with the railgun.
o Weapons stay on a map that isn't overcrowded.
o Patches that drastically alter the weapon balance to make things
unbalanced, and think they are making things better. (2x rocket firing
rate? give me a break!)

...and that's probably about it...
