I apologize for how ugly this is right now, however, I just began
work on it... Watch, it will get better -Don
Who Am I?
- My name is Don MacAskill
- I'm 19 years old, have blue eyes, brown hair, and am quite average
looking, I suppose. Pictures soon to come.
- I'm a Network Engineer for Best Internet
Communications, and I love computers.
- I love animals. In fact, I'm building a chinchilla cage for two
chins I'm going to buy soon. It will be 48" tall, 36" wide, and
22" deep.
- ...and I'll tell you more about myself later, must finish some other
things first....
What do I do?
- I love hanging out with my friends. Check out the Friends
of Don Picture Page for a better glimpse.
- I love spending time with my family (now that I'm most of the
way through the "terrible teens" :). Check out my web page I created
for my dad's birthday last year. Click here.
- I play a LOT of Quake. For those who don't know, Quake is
the "follow-up" to DOOM, and destroys it graphically and net-wise. I'm friends
with the folks who made DOOM and Quake, and enjoy playing it all the time.
Check out id Software's web page
for more information. (Which, incidentally, I help the gurus at id run)
- I *LOVE* the show Babylon 5. I don't watch much TV,
like, none. Except for B5. It's the best show in the world. The closest
thing to it I can compare it to is Star Wars, which I also am fanatical
about. Like Star Wars, the story takes place in a Sci-Fi universe, but
the actual storylines are not sci-fi, but rather combine many wonderful
storytelling elements into a grand tapestry. Things such as friendship,
betrayal, politics, intrigue, religion, and all sorts of other elements
go into it. Check out my new B5-related web site, Z'Ha'Dum,
or check out the Lurker's Babylon5
site.
- I play Laser Tag when I can get it... I used to play at Q-Zar,
however, lately I've been playing at the local Laser Quest in Mountain
View, CA. It's multi-leveled, so it enhances gameplay a lot.
- I attend the Heritage Oaks ward of the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-Day
Saints. Yes, folks, I'm Mormon (and, as such, also Christian, I might add).
Want to know more about my beliefs? Check out this page on Mormon
beliefs.
- I love chatting on the internet on IRC. I usually can be
found on #quake and #babylon5. My nickname, of course, is onethumb.
- I love acting. I've been in a number of plays, both as an actor and
as a stage director. I'm currently in a rendition of "A Christmas
Carol" where I play the roles of Young Scrooge, and Walter (Scrooge's
niece's husband).
- I hate singing. Well, I don't hate it, I just hate not being
able to sing. I cannot sing at all. *sigh* Thus, I've only
sung in one of my plays, and it was great. Not because I sang well, but
because I sang so badly, everyone thought it was a funny scene (which
it was supposed to be, so things were good). I loved it.
- I love nature. I love beaches, mountains, lakes, streams, etc. While
younger, I attended a youth summer camp in southern Utah, and it was
phenomenal. I had some of the best experiences of my life there. Unfortunately,
I've passed up a number of great opportunities to go hiking/camping/etc
lately, which I regret. Hopefully that will change.
- I love marital arts. I currently have a brown belt in Tae-Kwon-Do,
though I have taken a bit of Hapkido and Kempo as well. The calm and
focus martial arts has brought to my life is phenomenal. People do so many
rash things in the heat of the moment. I like to think that martial arts
is about changing that, not necessarily fighting. You can't fight without
a clear, open mind, and so concentration and calm is taught. These apply
even better to real life. I advise anyone who can to dabble in martial
arts even a little bit. I think you'll see what I'm talking about.
