The long nights of programming and the deprivation of a startup haven't stopped him from reserving bulk tickets for screenings of hot new movies and getting a whole row of family & friends there. He's the poster boy for love of life in the Silicon Valley surrounded by family, gadgets, technology, and more cats & dogs than you can believe.

Ben, man of serious wanderlust:
He and his mates have plans for serious Europe this summer, 6 weeks via train, hostel, bread & water. He's working two jobs to fund it while going to school. And he's loading up the iPod for music on the trip, putting big storage in the new digital camera, planning routes...this is going to be epic.
The best move of all is he invited his dear olde dad, but dear olde dad is working at smugmug for Don, who is a slavedriver....

 Peach, back from his mission to Italy, is a new man, a straight-A game-player and wrestling fan...turned A-student.
He's the family tour guide for our Italian vacation and he promises an incredible trip: no art, no museums, and no scenery. Say what? Two years in Italy and he hates art, scenery, and museums? How does this happen?

 Toni hasn't let a nearly empty nest slow her take-charge nature. She's still the communications hub of the family using every free method yet devised: intstant messenger for staying up-to-the minute on Anne's high-energy life at BYU; email for all Mark's sock needs; she's the email queen of the Mormon ladies of central Silicon Valley.
And when the economy's down & her family's income is on hold for, ahem, yet another startup...who you gonna call? The single most frugal person in California, that's who. And that would be one reason the family Christmas tree went from 16 feet to, um, 16 inches.

Amazing Anne. 'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house everyone was frantic. Mom was busy not wrapping gifts because she doesn't believe in wrapping paper, so Anne was wrapping them. Ben was busy not wrapping because it's too much work, so Anne wrapped those. Papa was busy trying to wrap but according to Anne is not competent to do so, so she wrapped those. Mark? Video games. Come wrap 'em Anne.
But she had Christmas to save. There was no tree. For a family with a tradition of HUGE trees that make the car look like a fallen tree with wheels, Anne could not allow it. So she dragged dadyo to Rite Aid for the night-before-Christmas, Christmas bush fire-sale...and Christmas was saved.

 Liz's creative eye for photography coupled with Don's ability with smugmug and photoshop has put Elizabeth MacAskill photography on the map with a jaw-dropping portfolio.
She has also turned the MacAskill family living room into a serious photo studio. Between piano recitals, working in a veterinary hospital, running a thriving photography business, and keeping up with Don, life is good and life is very full.

Papa has discovered half-way to his IronMan goal that in fact he's aluminum man at best. He piles on the biking miles, going 80 miles = 4 hours+ of riding, comes home thumping his chest as if he were iron, but Ben says "That's 4. On IronMan day you go 12. You're gonna die." And aluminum man's blood runs cold.
The big day is set for June of 2004 in Coeur d'Alene. In the meantime, everyone wants a piece of me. Rich Harlow wants me at Escape From Alcatraz this summer. Chad Packard is going to treacherously flaunt youth to put me down at Escape From the Rock. Shameless. Has he no conscience?
But Baldy's real love right now is smugmug and making it fly.
