Jean Nicolson

Jean Nicolson at age 90 Jean Nicolson wrote this article shortly before her 90th birthday in 1998 at the request of many family members who loved to hear her tell about the adventurous life that she and her mother lived.

Jean served off and on for forty years in a mission in Zimbabwe, as a teacher and later as the mission president. She published a book in 1998 on the mission entitled John Boyana Radasi, Missionary to Zimbabwe. When she was not serving in Zimbabwe, she taught school for the blind in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she currently resides.

She is one of the finest and most interesting people I've ever known, and she is sharp and clear at the age of 90. When she heard we were coming to visit, she walked the 20-minute walk in blustery weather to the store to buy fresh strawberries, trout, and vegetables so she could prepare a proper dinner. Then she insisted on washing the dishes, saying with a smile "they're my dishes!"

Jean's book. Jean has touched the lives of thousands through her charitable service. I consider it my great fortune that I have known Jean Nicolson.
